Who is responsible
The Trova app is published by Guillaume Ries, sole trader registered with the Versailles Trade and Companies Register under number 108 824 681 R.C.S. Versailles, based in France. Contact: contact@histour.app.
Your location
Why we ask for it
Trova is a treasure hunt you play on foot: a stop opens when you reach it, and the "hot / cold" clue tells you whether you are getting closer. Without your location, the game cannot tell where you are. You may also decline, and confirm each stop by hand.
What happens to it, exactly
Your location is compared, on your phone, with the coordinates of the stops of the hunt you have opened. It is not sent anywhere: it goes through no server, is recorded in no history, and is only kept in memory while you play.
Trova only asks for "While Using the App" permission. It never tracks your location in the background, with the screen locked or with the app closed.
The camera and your photos
Some stops offer a photo challenge. The photos you take are kept in the hunt logbook, in the app's private storage, on your phone. They go nowhere.
Trova only asks for access to your photo library when you tap the button that exports the logbook to your photos — never before, never in the background.
Notifications (Android)
On Android, during a hunt, Trova may show the current stop on the lock screen. That notification is created by your phone itself: no server sends it, and Trova receives no notification identifier.

Everything lives in the app's private storage. Uninstalling Trova erases all of it, permanently.
Sharing
When you share a hunt memory or a code to play on several phones, Trova opens your phone's share sheet: you choose the app and the recipient. The game code goes through no Trova server — there is none.
Services the app contacts
Four providers receive requests from your phone. None receives your GPS location or your identity, but all of them necessarily see your IP address, like any website you visit.
Mapbox — displaying the map
Provides the map tiles. Receives the coordinates of the area shown on screen in order to send the matching tiles — which is not your location, but the part of the city you are looking at. Mapbox telemetry is turned off in Trova. Mapbox has its own privacy policy, available at mapbox.com.
Apple and Google — purchases
Handle the whole payment. We never see your name, your address or your bank details: we only receive confirmation that a purchase took place.
RevenueCat — purchase verification
Checks with Apple or Google that a purchase is valid, to unlock the matching hunts, including after reinstalling. Receives the proof of purchase and an anonymous identifier created by the app — not your name, your email address or your location. RevenueCat has its own privacy policy, available at revenuecat.com.
Expo — app updates
At launch, the app checks with the Expo distribution service whether a newer version of its screens and hunts exists. That request sends the installed version, the device model, and a random identifier drawn at first launch, used to roll updates out gradually. That identifier belongs to the installation, not to you: it is tied to no account and disappears if you uninstall the app.
Finally, the buttons that lead to the start of a hunt open Apple Maps or Google Maps with the coordinates of that starting point, if you tap them: that service, not Trova, then plans the route.
Children
Trova is played as a family, with children from four years old, together with an adult. Because the app collects no data, it collects none about children: no account, no first name asked, no photo sent, no advertising.

Your rights
The European General Data Protection Regulation gives you the right to access, correct and erase your data, and to restrict or object to its processing. With Trova, you exercise these rights directly: all your data is on your phone, and uninstalling the app erases it. For any question, write to contact@histour.app. You may also lodge a complaint with the French data protection authority, the CNIL (cnil.fr), or with the authority of your own country.
Changes
If this policy changes, the new version is published on this page with its effective date. A change that would reduce your rights would be pointed out to you in the app.
